Well my fiance Kevin and I love our local joint that makes dipping sauce as their appetizer but the cost for a small amount made it hard to get when we were home. We are so lucky to have a friend who is a great chef and he came up with an easy recipe that we have fallen in love with.
You will need a stock pan like if you were making spaghetti sauce. We have a few canning jars all cleaned up. Each batch usually makes about four jars and then we just refrigerate. The whole process can take 30-45 minutes depending how much you make.
Ingredients are simple. You just need tomato puree, honey, crushed red pepper, franks red hot, garlic, olive oil, and sriracha hot chili sauce. The recipe is more to your taste but we use 2 cans of tomato puree, 1/2 cup of olive oil, 3 finely chopped cloves of garlic, 1/4 cup of honey, a few sprinkles of crushed red pepper, and 2 tbsps of sriracha and franks but you can add those to your liking. After that you can add as you go. Many times I add more olive oil to the batch but that’s what I like. After you added it all let simmer for 5-20 minutes.
And then you let it cool and pour into jars. This can last us a good 3-4 months and makes for a great appetizer with fresh bread.
